The Details

This role would be great for someone who enjoys working outside and with animals, enjoys being around families and children, and wants to learn about running a business

Overview of Summer

May and June:

Primarily assisting with Ranch Operations

  • 70% – lambing, fencing, maintenance projects, animal welfare
  • 30% wedding venue projects (prepping for wedding season)

July, August, Sept:

Primarily assisting with Wedding Venue

  • 65% – landscaping, setup/takedown, vendor & client engagement
  • 35% ranch operations as listed above

Schedule

  • On wedding weekends (10 per summer) schedule will be Wednesday – Sunday
  • On non wedding weekends, schedule will be agreed upon based on students personal schedule and ranch needs
  • 30-40hrs per week depending on ranch needs and student’s personal schedule/commitments

What will you bring to the job?

  • No specific experience necessary, but must come with an aptitude for using tools, lawn equipment, etc
  • On occasion you will be interacting with vendors and clients of the wedding venue, must have great communication skills and a friendly demeanor
  • Some days will be lots of hard work and heavy lifting, as well as long days (not a lot but on occassion) so it’s essential that you have a great attitude
  • We are a new business, and things change on the fly, especially during peak wedding season. Flexibility and ability to read situations and make great decisions on your own is a must
  • We are a family run operation with lots of kids, and extended family around – our hope is that you are part of the family for the summer, and on occasion be comfortable playing with the kids if needed
  • Required to have own transportation out to the ranch (located 10 minutes SW of Cochrane, AB)

  • Weekly team meeting, reviewing goals and expectations for the week
  • A very flexible work environment, where we will happily work around a 2nd job or other commitments (only exception is booked wedding event days)

  • Fair compensation based on experience level
    • Range between $17-20$/hr
  • Room and Board Available if required
